This tutorial is my own creation, any resemblance to another tutorial is purely
coincidental. I made it using PSP 7 but it should work in other versions.
|
I wanted something with a more masculine look and decided on leather. No outside
filters are needed for this one. It is all included in PSP. It is fairly
simple and fast to finish. You can download the Mask and
Gradient here. Put the SPcurl.msk in PSP/Masks folder and the SPbeestripes.jgd
in PSP/Gradients folder.
|

|
Right click and save image as .jpg.

You can move this arrow to mark your place in the tutorial so you don't get lost. |
This grows very quickly so start small. Open the graphic or select a 300x300
image of your choice. Square images work best with this mask.. Use the
eyedropper to select a light tan or brown color from the image.
It will darken so start light. Set this color as your background color.
|
At the top, click on Image/Add Borders and set the border size as 70 with symmetrical
checked so it will be added on all sides. Use the magic wand tool and click on
the border. You will see the marching ants around the border. Go to the
top again and select Effects/Textures/Fine Leather. See below.
|

|
Click on Fine Leather and apply these settings.
|

|
Go to Effects/Inner Bevel and use these
settings. Deselect. |

|
Now go to Layers/Add Raster Layer and then flood fill this layer with the
background color you used on the border. Apply the Fine Leather effect to this layer
the same as the first..
|
Go to Masks/Load From Disk and select
SPcurl.msk. Now Masks/Delete and then click yes. Go to Effects/Inner Bevel and
apply the same inner bevel as before. Now we will add a slight shadow.
Effects/Drop Shadow and use these settings. |

|
Repeat the Drop Shadow with -1 on the
settings.
|
Add a new Raster Layer. Use the selections tool with the
settings at Circle. Draw a small circle near the top corner, not too close. We
are going to make a nail/screw/tack head kind of thingy. Flood fill this circle with
the SPbeestripe.grd.
|

|
Apply the same Inner
Bevel as before. Now apply the same drop shadows as before, both the 1 and -1. |
You now have your nail head (for lack of a better term). Move it into the position
you want if need be. Duplicate this layer and then go to Images/Mirror.
Duplicate this layer and go to Images/Flip. Duplicate this layer and go to
Images/Mirror. You should now have a nail head in each corner.
|
That's it! You did it. Now you can merge all flatten and don't forget to sign
your name to your work.
